As a kid in the 80s, I dreaded afternoons at my grandfather’s medical practice because he’d blast the sleepy elevator music on 94.1 from his office. Now here we are, 30 years later, and…guess who’s working at that same station?! Of course, the music’s just a little peppier these days…
Now, let’s go “Inside Johnny Mars:” I’m Beaumont born and raised and a Kelly High grad, got my journalism degree from Texas A&M (WHOOP!) and liked Aggieland so much, I started my radio career there in the late 90s. I came home to SE TX in ’07 to run another Cumulus station, and then took a few years away from the mic to pursue other interests. But no matter where you work, if you’ve been in radio, it hooks you for life, so I returned to that world in 2012 and joined the Q weekend crew in 2015.
Join me Sundays from noon to 3 (and some Saturdays, too) for today’s best music and fun, and if you’re not careful, you might learn something before it’s done. I’ll see you soon!
